Get Rid of Your Red

Sample of the Month: SkinMedica Redness Relief CalmPlex™

Dealing with visibly red skin can be frustrating. I know very well what facial redness is like because I have always had red, sensitive skin. When I was younger I noticed my redness after exercising, but—as I got older—the redness seemed to always be there and was exaggerated after exercise, a glass of wine or spicy food. When I saw pictures of myself or looked in the mirror, all I could see was the redness.

When SkinMedica released their Redness Relief CalmPlex™ I was more than ready and willing to try it. The literature says that Redness Relief Calmplex™ is a product that corrects the redness in our skin, not by covering or masking it, but by blocking the skin’s inflammatory response–the underlying cause of redness.

The product also boasts:

  • Clinical results which show initial reduction in the appearance of visible redness in as early as two weeks
  • Restoration of the skin’s barrier which increases moisture retention making the skin softer and smoother while improving skin texture
  • Non-comedogenic (it won’t clog pores)
  • Leaves skin looking healthy and radiant

What I noticed first when trying Calmplex™ was that it is heavier than expected but not at all greasy. In fact, the glycerin based lotion lays on the skin so nicely that it makes a great make-up primer. Did I mention that the product smells amazing? I would describe the scent as almond, however many of our patients say they think it has a slight scent of cinnamon. In either case, you will like it!

While the smell and feel of the cream are certainly nice, the best news is that Redness Relief Calmplex™ really does take the red out. This product is excellent for anyone who experiences skin redness, rosacea, acne and even sunburns.

See the results for yourself in these photos that were taken of me on the VISIA skin analysis machine in our office. The VISIA shows what is happening beneath the skin’s surface. This photo shows a 20% reduction in redness in my cheeks after about 3 months use.
