Get answers to your most pressing questions about this specific treatment. Here are a few that we hear most often:

How long is a KYBELLA appointment?

A typical appointment lasts 30 minutes. The procedure itself lasts 15 minutes on average, but your medical provider will want to spend time discussing your desired outcomes, as well as what you should expect in the days following treatment.

Will it hurt?

Though most patients report Kybella treatments to be very comfortable, you may experience minor discomfort during the procedure.

Is it safe?

Yes, when administered by experienced medical professionals who have a clear understanding of your medical history.

What should I expect?

Once in the room with your medical provider, they will numb the area under the chin with lidocaine to minimize any possible discomfort. Next they will apply a temporary tattoo to the treatment area with tiny dots to clearly indicate each injection site. Once the KYBELLA™ has been injected you may feel a slight burning or tingling sensation in the treatment area which will dissipate soon after. You should expect some tenderness, numbness and swelling for up to 2 weeks.

When will I start seeing results?

Results can be in as soon as 2 weeks as the swelling dissipates and you will continue to see improvements for up to 6 weeks post-treatment. Multiple treatments of KYBELLA™ are generally needed to achieve desired results.

Are results really permanent?

Yes. Once desired results are achieved, retreatment is not expected.

Will there be downtime?

We tell most patients to plan for about 4 days of social downtime with this treatment. Tenderness, discomfort and numbness in the treated area is very common. This will normally last less than 5 days, and for some patients may last up to 14 days. Bruising may also occur in the area of treatment, and this will likely resolve within a week.

What is "Submental Fullness"?

This is simply the medical name for “double chin.” Submental fullness can be caused by various reasons such as aging, weight gain, or simply genetics.

How much does it cost?

Treatments start at $650. Call the office for more information.

Am I a candidate?

Coming to the office for a consultation with a medical provider is the only way to know for sure, however, anyone bothered by fullness under their chin is likely a candidate. Even people who are very thin can have difficulty getting rid of fat under the chin.

KYBELLA™, is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. This is a naturally occurring acid in the body produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder to help metabolize the fat we eat. Once injected, KYBELLA™ starts destroying the fat cells in the chin area, permanently.
