Botox FAQ’s

Get answers to your most pressing questions about this specific treatment. Here are a few that we hear most often:

How long is a Botox appointment?

A typical appointment lasts 15 minutes.

Will it hurt?

Botox is an injectable treatment. You will experience some minor, brief discomfort (like a pinch) at the moment of treatment.

Is Botox safe?

Yes, when administered by medical professionals. Many boutique shops and dental offices offer Botox—Timeless Skin Solutions is one of the few injectors in Central Ohio that is physician-led.

What should I expect?

In just minutes, with little to no discomfort, a medical professional uses a tiny needle to inject Botox® into the area of concern. The treated muscles start to relax within 1 to 2 days, and reach their maximum degree of relaxation within 2 weeks.

When will I start seeing results?

Typically, you’ll start seeing results within a couple of days.

How often is it typically done?

Outcomes typically last for 3-4 months before needing to be re-applied.

How much does it cost?

Treatments are highly customized based on area, concern and person. For the most accurate quote we recommend sitting down with one of our medical professionals to talk about your desired outcome. The cost ranges by area, as seen below, and combining areas can be more economical.

Forehead with Brow Lift: $350-$400

Forehead: $130-$220

Frown Lines: $340 on average

Crow’s Feet: $270-$320

Will there be downtime?

There is no true downtime associated with Botox, however you should remain upright for 4 hours and should not participate in vigorous exercise for 1 hour following treatment.

Is Botox different from a Facial Filler?

Yes, it is. Botox is used to treat expression lines and wrinkles resulting from muscular contractions. Fillers (such as Juvederm XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, Belotero, Restylane and Restylane Lyft) restore volume to deeper wrinkles and areas where there has been a loss of collagen.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport injectables?

Both injectables are a type of botulinum type A used to relax the muscles that cause frown lines and other over active muscles of the face, like forehead lines and crows feet.

Both injectables have been in use for years (Dysport in Europe only until it was introduced in America in 2009) both have a high safety profile, and both must be injected every 3-6 months. Both show similar efficacy and side effects, and in most double-blind clinical studies both the patient and the doctor were unable to tell the results apart.

Dysport is a smaller-sized molecule so its dosage and pricing is different than Botox. Dysport may not last quite as long (duration of efficacy) but has a quicker onset (2-5 days vs 4-7 days for Botox). Dysport diffuses more (spreads to a wider area). This is an advantage in some areas of the face and a disadvantage in others. You may need more Dysport to get the same result as Botox. These are being studied.

Please discuss with our experienced medical providers on which injectable is right for you.

Am I a candidate?

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, we encourage waiting until you are finished. Please do not recieve Botox if you have a skin infection at the planned site of injection or have a muscle or nerve condition such as ALS or myasthenia gravis.

BOTOX® targets the muscles that reside underneath the skin. Over years of squinting, smiling, and frowning, those muscles begin to contract and restrict. BOTOX® actively relaxes those muscles, causing an improved appearance.
