High Tech Can Be a Pain in the Neck…Keep Your Head Up!

Do you remember your parents nagging you to ‘sit up straight’ as a child? They may have been right!

In a high tech age, poor posture is more of a problem than ever before. Staring down at your smart phone can put up to 60 pounds of extra pressure on your spine. Not only that, as you repeatedly stress the delicate skin into folds, collagen and elastin break down. This leads to early wear and tear, sagging and wrinkles – causing more damage to your neck than to your productivity. “Tech neck” is an all too real phenomenon, But keep your head up, there is hope!

While limiting screen time and holding devices up to eye level is ideal, there are other preventative measures you can take to strengthen the skin on the neck to handle extra resistance and movements.

1. Topical retinoid creams

Retinoid and Retinols help to stimulate collagen and speed up cell turnover to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Also look for  products containing peptides and antioxidants to ward off damage from other environmental toxins, which can also lead to premature aging on the neck. We recommend SkinMedica® Retinol Complex and Vitamin C + E Complex to prevent free radical damage.

2. Ultherapy

For those with sagging in the face, neck and jowls, Ultherapy is an effective solution to create a more sculpted jaw line and chin. Ultherapy is the only FDA approved treatment that lifts sagging skin without the surgery or downtime. Using ultrasound energy, tissue is heated under the surface of the skin to stimulate the growth of new collagen and to lift and tighten the skin. Results from a single treatment last up to 2 years, at which point we recommend re-treating to maintain and enhance results.

3. Botox

For vertical lines on the neck, BOTOX injections can help relax the platysma muscle and soften prominent neck bands. Botox is a shorter term option as maintenance treatments are needed every 3-4 months. We even recommend BOTOX for prevention in your 20’s and 30’s before there are noticeable signs of aging.

4. Kybella

Ditch that double chin – without the surgery, discomfort or downtime. KYBELLA™ is the only FDA-approved injectable to permanently reduce submental fat under the chin. It works to permanently destroy fat cells so that they can no longer store or accumulate fat. With a more sculpted chin, your neck will look better from every angle.

5. Facial Filler

For deep, horizontal lines on your neck, injectable fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® can provide instant gratification and improvement in appearance. The hyaluronic acid formula boosts moisture, while plumping and filling etched in lines. Injectable fillers last up to two years, depending on the formula and area treated.

You can trust Timeless to help you banish “tech neck” for good and say hello to a lifted, firmer neck for years to come.
