The 411 on the Pearl™ Treatment

Adding the Pearl treatment to your annual skincare plan is all the buzz around Timeless Skin Solutions lately.  While this marquee treatment does require some planning as a small amount of downtime is expected, our medical providers are seeing outstanding results with their patients. Around this time of year, when many want to correct the damage that may have been done by the summer sun, patients at Timeless are seeing improved texture and amazing results with the Pearl treatment.”

How Does it Work?
Pearl is an ablative, non-fractional that works by delivering an intense wavelength of light to the skin, removing the outer layers of aged, sun-damaged skin. In addition, the laser stimulates the underlying skin, resulting in collagen formation and an improvement in fine lines and wrinkles. As the lasered skin heals following the procedure, new skin forms that is smoother, tighter and glowing.

What is it used For?
Pearl is one of THE most effective procedures for improving aging skin in a single treatment. Our skin is constantly being impacted by natural elements, including the sun, wind, and pollution. While our skin is continually renewing itself, factors like age, dietary habits and improper skin care can negatively impact its regeneration.

During the Pearl resurfacing treatment, we comfortably remove that layer of rough, uneven skin to reveal the layer of smooth, renewed skin underneath. In just one treatment, we can erase sun damage, reduce pore size, refine tone & texture, eliminate fine lines and increase collagen production.

What to Expect
While the treatment can be a bit intense, every step is taken to ensure the patients’ comfort. The treatment will take approximately 30 minutes for a full face, however you should be prepared to be in the office for about 90 minutes in total, as numbing cream will be applied to the skin before treatment.

During the treatment, one of the Timeless physicians will guides the Pearl laser over the skin, gently removing the top layer of the epidermis and heating a layer of tissue below it. Most describe the treatment as feeling warm but not painful, and immediately afterwards the skin tends to feel more like a sunburn. Of course, the Zimmer is always available to help control any surface sting.

Downtime with Pearl is minimal relative to fractional lasers, but it does result in some social downtime. After treatment, the skin will look like it is sunburned, and many people limit social and work activities for up to a week. After three to four days, the top layer of skin peels off revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath. You will begin to see a renewed appearance in as little as a week, with continuous improvement and full results experienced within six months.

Why Choose the Pearl
Patients of any age that have sun damage, uneven skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles can benefit from Pearl treatments. With Pearl, results are realized in just one treatment, and require significantly less downtime than procedures using fractional lasers.

“I chose to do the Pearl to correct sun damage from years of swim team when I was young, along with hormonal pigmentation brought on by pregnancy,” says Allyson Sterling, PA-C.

“Uneven skin tone and visible spots on my face had me searching for a quick fix; I liked that the Pearl would give me the results I was looking for in just one treatment.” She goes on to note, “I was so happy with the initial results that I continue to do Pearl treatments every two to three years.”
