7 Skincare Trends for 2023

There are some trending skincare theories, products, and treatments new in 2023. But as we dove into them, we realized that many are practices or products that we are already embracing at Timeless Skin Solutions. So they may be new to some people, but when you are an industry leader these trends are really just old news!

Let’s check out what the buzz is about…

#1 Skin Cycling

This is the process of alternating use of intense skincare products like retinoids and exfoliating acids with gentler products or a simpler moisturizer. You can personalize your skin cycling routine, limiting the use of the more intense products to two nights per week, or add in another night of retinol if your skin is up for it.

Although this might be a trend you hear more about throughout 2023, it’s actually a well-known practice here at Timeless. Lead Patient Care Coordinator, Deann Hanna, is a strong advocate of alternating her retinol use with SUZANOBAGIMD Retivance® Skin Rejuvenating Complex which is more easily tolerated with regular use.

#2 Skin Flooding

Sounds trendy, right? Well, this practice of layering skin care and trapping hydration is old news to #TeamTimeless. Check out our article on the importance of layering your skincare products, which discusses how layering allows different products that serve different purposes to each do their job effectively.

#3 All-in-one Skincare Products

Ready to step back just a bit from a cabinet full of skincare products? Then be sure that the products you do use are up to the task. While our providers can help you determine the best skincare regimen for your needs, we recognize that some people really just rather keep it simple.

One of our go-to products is SkinMedica’s TNS® Advanced+ Serum. It is an intensive treatment serum that supports rapid, comprehensive skin rejuvenation with significant, visible improvements in coarse wrinkles, fine lines, and overall texture. Even more amazing, with continued use, TNS® Advanced+ lifts sagging skin and enhances firmness to reclaim smooth, tight, and youthful-looking skin that appears up to 6 years younger after just 12 weeks of use.

#4 Beyond the Face

2023 is the year to take all of the care you use on your face and extend it to the rest of your body. But, this doesn’t just mean using any body lotion, but rather products that are developed specifically for different areas of the body. A few of our favorite products are SkinMedica’s Neck Correct and Firm & Tone Lotion for Body.

#5 More Than Skin Deep

It goes without saying that our emotional wellbeing is the bridge between our mental, and therefore, physical health, so 2023 will bring a bigger focus onto psychodermatology: the link between mind and skin.

At Timeless, we know that beauty starts from within, and external skin issues can be a telltale sign of the stress you are feeling inside. The increased jump in cortisol caused by stress can cause a hormonal imbalance, resulting in anything from an outbreak of hives to those fine lines and wrinkles. The best way to relax, according to Timeless’ Medical Director, Dr. Erin Olah? Spend time with friends!

#6 Skincare + Makeup Hybrids

Skincare and makeup hybrids aren’t really new, but they’re better – ane more popular – than ever before. One of our favorite hybrid products is SkinMedica’s Total Defense + Repair Broad Spectrum Sunscreen. It provides UV protection and helps the skin to restore itself. Even better, it comes in a tinted version that Dee recommends using as your foundation.

#7 Loving the Skin Your In

We’re all working hard to readjust antiquated and unrealistic beauty standards. The trend of skin neutrality encourages viewing skin simply as a healthy function of our body — not a topic for debate. Your skin is one big organ, and one that you should take care just as you would others. But by practicing skin neutrality, we can all get one step closer to loving our skin for what it is, rather than what we hope it could be.

It’s not surprise to our team at Timeless Skin Solutions that the “new trends” for 2023, are actually all things that we have been doing and encouraging our patients to do, all along. As always, we are here to help guide you through all aspects of your skincare journey. Request a consultation to receive a customized treatment plan perfectly suited for you and your skin needs.
