Curelight therapy is unique in that we can customize the wavelengths of light emitted to treat each patient. We use it primarily to treat patients with mild to moderate acne, or patients with inflammation of any kind. We often combine blue and red light because together they effectively reduce acne-causing bacteria, inflammation, accelerate wound healing and even stimulate collagen production.
When the wavelength of the blue light (around 425 nm) is delivered to the skin it triggers a chemical reaction, known as peroxidation, in the bacteria and the it is killed without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. Without the bacteria, skin clears and blemishes decrease. The red light portion of the CureLight works in a different capacity by penetrating deep into the skin to repair and regenerate tissue, heal any damage that has occurred, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production.
