Acne scars can be difficult to treat, and while many patients can expect visible improvement, it may not be possible to fully erase the appearance of all acne scars.
Treatments for acne scars include a multidimensional approach that may include some or all of the following treatments:
In an area that is depressed from scarring, scar tissue may need to be “broken up” and lifted. To do this, Dr. Clinton uses a very fine needle to release the scar tissue and elevate the depression. This creates a smoother texture and appearance. Once the scar tissue has been broken up, facial fillers may be used to lift the scarred area.
Depending on the severity of scarring, Dr. Clinton may recommend ongoing maintenance treatments such as SilkPeel™ or Chemical Peel.
