Smoothes lines and wrinkles

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using Levulan® smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. It also treats sun damage, acne, sebaceous hyperplasia and redness/rosacea, as well as precancerous lesions such as actinic keratosis.

How it Works/What To Expect

PDT is a two-step process. In the first step, Dr. Clinton applies Levulan®, a clear, painless chemical photosensitizing agent, to the skin, leaving it on for 30 minutes to 24 hours, at her discretion.

In the second step, Dr. Clinton uses blue light or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser to activate the Levulan® for approximately 8 to 16 minutes.

Although some patients may experience redness and peeling for a few days, Dr. Clinton suggests being prepared for 1 full week of redness and peeling.

Optimal results are usually seen after 2 to 3 treatments when performed at one-month intervals.
